Backcountry trails are accessible from your driveway at Riverside.  Hit the Burro trail that parallels the resort or skin the resort in the early hours before it opens.  Multiple trail options adjacent to the resort.  You can skin your way up and around the area, then pop into the resort and ski home.  You can also skin up the resort before it opens and then be the first person down the slopes!
